Once upon a time there was a Mom and Child, Oh-yes, I’m actually going to tell a story!
Take this seriously!
Okay, When i was Little, i mean When i was young.. how young? ahmm Six years old? five? ..okay Six.
When i was six years old my Mother, yes! my Mom, was actually a vendor that time and she used to sell street foods, other street foods,
actually varieties of food and i was helping her that time… and one of the most memorable moments there is that,
when she had her so-called break and she go to a dark place, which i wonder why?
For some reasons i felt mad at her because i know that shes hiding something, and i know that she’s eating something that she doesn’t want to share with me, so when she came back i was like crying… oh-dear i’m such a baby that time…
She ask me ”WHAT HAPPEN? WHY ARE YOU CRYING? i said “I HATE YOU! YOU KNOW I’M HUNGRY!”
Well, i almost thinking to eat my dog make it ASOCENA
My Moms reaction? Oh-my-God! She smile but there’s something wrong with that smile that it feels like she’s upto something.
AND! yes! She actually gave me the “MAGIC EGG” she said take this and eat this ‘MAGIC EGG” and so i did.
BUT! You wont believe this! I go somewhere else to eat that “Magic Egg” , i’m kinda happy that time,plus i’m hungry, so i sitdown and crack the egg. At first, it was okay, i saw the yellow thing and taste it. It taste good!
BUT! the moment i saw this black feathers? ..YOU WONT BELIEVE THIS! I… I SCREAMED!
i run to my mom and tell her “THERE WAS A RAT! THERE WAS A RAT ON THAT EGG!” i was like crying, while my mother was actually laughing at me.
Then she told me that she always eat Balut in dark areas or places without light, so she cannot see how it looks like while eating that disgusting food., called “BALUT”.
oh-boy! the end of the story. I know! it was embarrassing, but great experience though. They say you are not Filipino if you don’t eat Balut.
Well I’m a Filipino but Honestly! i dont eat Balut, that was the first and the last time i eat Balut ..Yes! IN-ALL-HONESTY.
I dont Like it! Because that Balut or Boiled Pre-hatched Eggs was so Disgusting, But! Yes It was so Delicious! a Certified Deliciotic Food!
And It is a common and everyday food in some countries such as Philippines of Course, –Cambodia and Vietnam too.
It is a fertilized duck or chicken egg with a nearly developed embryo inside, boiled and eaten in its shells.
As what people say, “Balut” is rich in protein, hearty snack and believed to be an aphrodisiac. This chicken egg can be bought usually from balut vendors who roam around the city at night. Its the vendors that you hear shouting the word balut in the middle of the night.
